After breakfast at your lodge, drive to the starting point of the adventurous Nkuringo to Buhoma walk. Your Driver-Guide will drop you here and then drive on to Buhoma to wait for you. The walk takes you through Bwindi Forest, crossing rivers and passing waterfalls as you learn about the forest. Along the way you’ll have the chance to spot a variety of birds and, with luck, primates, including gorillas. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, drive to the Park Headquarters for a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger Guides, who will allocate you a Gorilla Family Group to trek to that day. Once your group of eight is confirmed, two Ranger Guides will lead you into the thick Impenetrable Forest in search of the rare and endangered Mountain Gorillas. The search always begins from where the gorillas were last seen the previous day. When you reach them, you’ll be allowed to spend one hour in their presence, keeping silent at all times. Photography is permitted. Gorilla tracking can be strenuous, depending on the weather and the gorillas’ movements through the forest on the day. However, it is a very well-organised activity, giving you a 99% chance of seeing the gorillas. The trek is supported by advanced trackers who monitor the Mountain Gorillas’ movements throughout the day, so they know where the gorillas nested the previous night and where to begin the search. Your two Ranger Guides will lead you throughout, clearing and creating trails while sharing their knowledge of the Mountain Gorillas and Bwindi Forest. After the trek, return to the starting point to collect your certificate, recognising your successful tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Meals: Breakfast
