A Tuk-Tuk Dinner with the Locals Start Time: 17:30pm Duration: 3 Hrs Let us take you out for an adventurous dinner safari by Tuk-Tuk, the three wheeled taxis of Laos. Enjoy a meal at a bustling Vientiane evening food market where hordes of hungry locals pick up their takeaway dinners! Visit the market to explore the interesting, traditional Lao food on offer. Select some delicious dishes to try and enjoy your authentic feast while watching the busy market around you. After dinner, take a short walk to Downtown, past some local Pétanque Courts, to visit the well-known intersection that becomes a thriving roadside dessert and drink markets at night. You can try hot soy milk, fresh juices and other unusual local beverages such as Rosella or Longan drinks. There are also carts selling delicious traditional Lao sweets, many made with Coconut or Sticky Rice and Lao style Roti with Banana and Coconut Milk. Return to your hotel with your guide and by Tuk-Tuk in the late evening. The remainder of the day is at leisure for you to explore at you own pace.
Description: Start Time: 9:00am Duration: 6 Hrs Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Spend a relaxing morning exploring the quiet side of Vientiane, the Capital and largest City of Laos, on the Banks of the Mekong River near the border with Thailand. Drive 1 hour Southeast of the city to the Buddha Park. Built in 1958, the park is a fanciful sculpture garden full of Buddhist and religious images including a quirky giant concrete pumpkin with a three level interior representing Hell, Earth and Heaven. Spend some time walking amongst the bizarre and sometimes ornate statues. Return to Vientiane. Enjoy lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the weaving home studio of Mrs. Carol Cassidy, an American expert in textiles who arrived in Vientiane in 1989 as part of a United Nations project to promote traditional weaving. So impressed by the quality and diversity of weaving throughout Laos, she set up the Lao Textiles Studio, which now employs over 40 local weavers who create naturally dyed and woven silk pieces reflecting traditional Lao designs. Learn about Lao weaving techniques with an option to support the cause through purchases at the gift shop. Return to your hotel.
Description: After breakfast at your hotel, you will be met and transferred to the Airport for your onward journey or departure flight home. • Optional Extras (Pricing on Request) A Day Living Lao Go on an insider’s safari around Vientiane by Tuk-Tuk. We take you off the beaten path to a few places that only locals know. You will get to know more about Laos and Vientiane in particular and experience the everyday lives of the Lao people. See how Kao Larm, a local specialty snack is made and try them fresh from production. Observe the lively local market while sipping on a traditional Lao coffee. Visit the workshop of a family run silversmith producing intricate traditional and modern pieces and the COPE Visitors Centre where you will get to know more about the ongoing challenges with unexploded ordinance (UXO) the people face on a daily basis. Visit Simeuang Temple and learn to make Buddhist banana leaf and wax flower offerings. Rice Farm by Tuk-Tuk Visit an organic rice, fish and vegetable farm on the outskirts of Vientiane by Tuk-Tuk. The farm is run by a Non-Government organisation using traditional farming methods, a perfect place to try your hand at rice farming, which is common in both Laos and its neighbouring countries. The friendly farmers will show you how to get your feet wet planting rice seedlings or if it’s the harvest season, you will get to cut and thresh your own rice for lunch! Travel to a nearby spot for fishing, collect fresh duck eggs, learn about organic fertiliser and how it is made, and harvest fresh seasonal organic vegetables and bamboo. At the end of the day you will cook them up and enjoy a traditional lunch with the day’s harvest. • Travel Information Visa Requirements: A tourist visa should be obtained in advance. It is not possible to get a Visa upon arrival. Please ensure your passport is valid more than 6 months from the date of return for every country you are visiting. Please also ensure there is sufficient space in your passport to allow for all immigration procedures, taking note that some South East Asian countries take up a full page for the visa sticker and need yet more space on a separate page for entry and exit stamps. Please contact Europe Holidays for any visa service or guidance. Please note the following general information is subject to change concerning visas. Trip and Travel Insurance: The tour price does not include personal insurance. Travellers are highly recommended to purchase Travel Insurance upon commitment of the booking. Europe Holidays can assist with your travel requirements. Travel Advice for New Year: If the dates of travel fall during Pi Mai Lao, the Lao New Year (Apr 14–16, 2025), many shops and businesses are closed during this period or may operate on a limited schedule although most restaurants remain open. As it is a tradition to splash water on each other to bring good luck during this period, travellers should take care of their phones, cameras and laptops. Additionally, travel times might need to be adjusted during this period as some festivals are held in the streets and cause small delays.
